The Dawn of Nanyang

The Nanyang Style art movement, which was practiced by migrant Chinese painters in Singapore from the late 1940s to the 1960s holds great significance in Singapore's art history as it represents some of the earliest conscious attempts by artists in Singapore to generate a local art discourse. Be immersed in the artistry of blending western techniques with traditional Chinese ink wash painting through the artworks of Master Lee Hock Moh, Master Koh Mun Hong, and Master Lim Kay Hiong.

From now till 2 October 2021, be transported into Singapore’s pioneer art movement, the Nanyang Style of Fine Art as three notable artists presents the various motifs of Southeast Asia through their works at “The Dawn of Nanyang” exhibition presented by Gallery NaWei, at the East Garden Gallery located at the lobby level of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore.

All artworks displayed are available for purchase, with 3 percent of the proceeds going towards Singapore Thong Chai Medical Institution, a Chinese charity medical centre in Singapore that provides free medical consultation and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to the public.
