Celebrating 150 Years of the Former General Post Office Sydney

On the evening of 29 August, The Fullerton Hotel Sydney is hosting a private event celebrating the 150th anniversary of the former General Post Office (GPO) building. The GPO originally opened on 1 September 1874, serving as the central hub for Sydney’s postal services and a landmark of the city’s history. This event, taking place in the GPO Foyer under the clock tower from 6.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m., marks the culmination of the year-long 150th anniversary celebrations.

Check in

Check in will be temporarily moved to Level 6 between 5.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.
Please enter the hotel via main entrance at 159 Pitt Street, where our Fullerton staff will be available to guide you.

Entry and Exit

Please use the entrance at 159 Pitt Street.

• Martin Place entrance will be closed from 8.00 p.m. on 28 August 2025 and will reopen at 6.00 a.m. on 30 August 2025.
• George Street entrance will be closed from 4.00 p.m. on 29 August 2025 and will reopen at 5.00 a.m. on 30 August 2025.

Parking

There are no changes to parking. Please click here for more information about parking.

Restaurant/Bar opening hours 

The Bar will be closed for the entire day.
The Place will operate as usual:

• Breakfast: 6.30 a.m. – 10.30 a.m.
• Lunch: 12.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m.
• Dinner: 5.30 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.

Morena will also follow its normal weekday schedule:

• Breakfast: 7.00 a.m. – 11.15 a.m.
• Lunch: 12.00 p.m. – 2.30 p.m.
• Dinner: 5.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.

Gym access

Access to the Gym will not be affected.

Club Lounge access

There will be no changes to Club Lounge access and will remain open and available as usual.
